Emergency Preparedness Statistics
At the beginning of each year we see a renewed interest in families getting prepared as people think about New Year resolutions and home organization. The reality is that despite good intentions, only 25% of families even have an emergency kit. Even more shocking? These numbers have changed very little since the start of the pandemic.
With that in mind, we declared the last week of January each year to be ‘Emergency Kit Week’ -- a time where we bring awareness to the importance of every family having an emergency kit; highlighting information from experts and our own customers to encourage everyone to get it done!
75% Aren't Ready
According to a 2021 poll from Insure.com, only 25% of families reported they have an emergency kit.
That's how long experts like FEMA and Ready.gov recommend you be prepared for with food, water, and supplies for your entire family.
Have a Plan
According to Security Magazine (2019), 42% of Americans do not have an evacuation plan and only 19% had a family meet-up plan.
Emergency Kits in the News!
We're proud to say we were rated the best overall choice of earthquake bag by The Spruce again in 2022 and just last month were rated the best emergency kit option for severe weather by Insider Magazine.
Our Complete Kit is designed with FEMA's standards in mind. While some kits may short the amount of food and water included, we know that is critical and are proud to say we meet or exceed offering at least 1,000 calories of emergency food per person as well as ready-to-drink and supplies to purify additional water to have over one gallon per person per day.
